Choosing Your Wedding Photographer

Your wedding will be one of the truly great occasions of your life. And, long after the happy day is but a memory, your wedding photographs will be among your most treasured keepsakes, becoming more precious with every passing year. The studio you select to photograph your wedding will be supplying one of the most important services of that special day -- a complete visual record of all the beautiful moments of your carefully planned wedding.

Before choosing your photographer, invest enough of your time to become familiar with the photographic styles and techniques available to you. This can best be done by studying recent albums of friends and visiting one or two reputable studios. Most photographers are now using a variety of techniques designed to make an album a unique experience. Through creative camera techniques, sensitivity, and imagination, photographs convey a mood as well a candid image.

When you have found a Studio that displays albums which tell the wedding story the way that you want your wedding story told, it is final decision time. You are ready to entrust your wedding day to a studio and in turn ask them to commit their photographer's availability to you on that day. But first, there are several questions that you should ask before finalizing the agreement. Some of these are:

• Are the sample albums you are showing me the work of the photographer who will be doing my wedding?

• Does the photographer cover my wedding day completely, or does he have a time, location, or exposure limit?

• Is his photographic equipment in top working condition and is it of professional quality?

• Will I have a chance to meet and talk to the photographer before the wedding day?

• Does he have an assistant helping him during the wedding and reception?

• Are the finished prints protectively coated?

• Will the photographer and/or studio aid me in creating my wedding story album?

• Does the album itself carry a workmanship guarantee?

If you feel dissatisfied with their answers to these questions then possibly it would be wise to continue your search for that special photographer for your special day.

Your wedding is your own beautiful creation. Your photographer must preserve your masterpiece on film by enfolding the tenderness, the joy, and the significance of your day into your wedding album. It will highlight the beautiful moments of your wedding and become an heirloom for you and your children to cherish.
